“Everton and five challengers chase Liverpool’s ‘amazing’ star in bold transfer battle; former Red joins the race”

“Everton and five rivals plot daring swoop for Liverpool’s ‘amazing’ powerhouse; ex-Red enters the fray”

Everton have not brought a men’s first-team player from Liverpool since 1992, when the late Gary Ablett crossed Stanley Park. However, the Toffees might be looking to break that decades-long streak.

The last direct transfer between Everton and Liverpool dates back to January 2002, when Abel Xavier made the switch from Goodison Park to Anfield. Transfers between the Merseyside rivals have been a rarity over the past two decades.

A new report suggests that David Moyes is keeping tabs on a player from Arne Slot’s current squad.

Everton among six clubs targeting Quansah
According to CaughtOffside, Everton are one of six clubs reportedly interested in signing Jarell Quansah. Liverpool may consider offers around €35m (£30m) for the 22-year-old defender.

Other Premier League contenders include Newcastle, Brentford, and Bournemouth, while Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, managed by former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso, are also potential competitors in the race for the centre-back.

Liverpool unlikely to sell Quansah to Everton

This report aligns with recent insights from Fabrizio Romano regarding the defender, who has started just two Premier League games under Arne Slot—none since December 4—and was even overlooked for Curtis Jones at right-back during the injury absences of Conor Bradley and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

At 22, it’s natural for Quansah to consider seeking regular first-team opportunities elsewhere. However, he remains a valued squad member at Liverpool. Slot himself has noted that Quansah has “outgrown being called a talent,” underscoring his importance despite limited appearances.

Teammate Alexis Mac Allister has described him as “amazing” and “so important for the team.” Given Liverpool’s persistent defensive injuries this season, selling Quansah without securing an equal or better replacement would be a significant risk for FSG.

While a summer move isn’t entirely off the table, a transfer to Everton seems highly unlikely for obvious reasons. Anfield officials are also unlikely to let him join other Premier League rivals, particularly Newcastle, who are pushing for a Champions League spot.

For now, the hope is that Quansah contributes meaningfully to Liverpool’s campaign and persuades the club to retain him—unless he’s resolute in his desire to leave.
