“Behind Closed Doors: The Real Reason Mac Allister Trained Alone Before Liverpool’s Vital Showdown”

“Mystery Deepens: Why Alexis Mac Allister Was Spotted Training Alone Ahead of Liverpool’s Crucial Clash”

Alexis Mac Allister’s absence from Liverpool training on Wednesday raised a few eyebrows among fans, sparking speculation about a potential injury. However, a recent report seems to have calmed any fears on that front.

Arne Slot’s squad were hard at work at the AXA Training Centre as preparations ramp up for Sunday’s Premier League showdown with West Ham. The Reds will be looking to bounce back after last weekend’s loss to Fulham.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez were also missing as they continue their recoveries from ankle and hamstring issues, respectively. On a more positive note, Alisson Becker returned to training after sitting out the last two games due to concussion protocols following a knock during international duty in March.

So, why was Mac Allister training alone?

According to the Liverpool Echo, while Mac Allister wasn’t out with the main group on Wednesday, there’s reportedly “no major concern” surrounding his condition. Instead, the Argentine midfielder was inside working on a personalized programme. With no midweek games for the rest of the season and matches falling on Sundays, players have more flexibility to follow individual routines tailored to their needs.

Mac Allister may well be grateful for the rare full week between fixtures. While fans would’ve undoubtedly preferred Liverpool to still be competing in the Champions League and FA Cup—which would’ve pushed the Spurs clash on April 27 into a midweek slot—the silver lining of being focused solely on the Premier League is the luxury of extended recovery time.

That’s a welcome change for the Argentine midfielder, who’s been a near-constant presence in the team. Since early December, he’s started all but one league match and has featured in every game bar one since the FA Cup exit to Plymouth Argyle two months ago, according to Transfermarkt.

Mac Allister has racked up 3,261 minutes this season—more than all but three Liverpool players—and also endured the long haul to and from South America for international duty in late March.

With that in mind, the break could prove invaluable as he aims to be in peak shape for Sunday’s clash with West Ham at Anfield—a chance for the team to bounce back and reassert their title credentials following the disappointing defeat to Fulham.
