“Chelsea ready to shake up Liverpool with daring bid for ‘ice-cool’ Anfield standout”

“Chelsea poised to challenge Liverpool with bold bid for ‘ice-cool’ Anfield star”

Chelsea, known for poaching Liverpool players in the early 2010s, could be preparing to try their luck once again with another raid on Anfield.

While Arne Slot’s Liverpool boasts a wealth of goalkeeping options, further strengthened by the imminent arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Enzo Maresca faces a different reality at Chelsea. The Blues have struggled between the sticks, with Robert Sanchez enduring a season of costly errors and Filip Jorgensen failing to fully displace him. As a result, Chelsea may be in the market for a new goalkeeper when the transfer window opens.

Chelsea eyeing £40m bid for Caoimhin Kelleher

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are preparing a £40m bid to test Liverpool’s resolve over Caoimhin Kelleher. Strengthening the goalkeeping department is a priority for Maresca, and if the Blues can offer Kelleher a more prominent role than he currently has at Anfield, it could be a decisive factor in their pursuit.

Even with Alisson Becker firmly established as Liverpool’s No. 1 and Mamardashvili arriving for next season, prying Kelleher away won’t be easy. The Reds still value the 26-year-old highly, despite being unable to provide him with the regular game-time he has publicly sought.

Would Chelsea be the right move for Kelleher?

A summer departure for Kelleher seems likely, but is Stamford Bridge his best destination? Chelsea are on track for a Champions League return, a stage where the ‘unflappable’ shot-stopper—praised by Irish broadcaster RTE—has already proven his worth.

If Maresca can guarantee him the No. 1 spot, something he’s never had at Anfield, the Republic of Ireland international may well be tempted. However, Liverpool could be reluctant to sell to Chelsea, given their long-standing rivalry and the Blues’ resurgence after a few turbulent seasons.

Losing Kelleher would be tough for Liverpool fans, and seeing him join Chelsea would sting even more. Yet, at 26, he deserves to be a regular starter at a top club, and £40m is a price that better reflects his ability than some of the low-ball offers Liverpool have previously received.
