“Rodri’s Pure Class: Heartwarming Post-Match Gesture After Liverpool Defeats Man City”

As the reigning Ballon d’Or winner—an award Mo Salah has been tipped for this year—Rodri has showcased his elite footballing ability while also displaying remarkable class off the pitch.

There’s no doubt that Manchester City have deeply felt the absence of the Spaniard this season, with the 28-year-old sidelined since September due to an ACL injury and not expected to return before the campaign ends.

Forced to watch from the sidelines, he has seen Pep Guardiola’s squad struggle to secure a fifth consecutive Premier League title. On Sunday, he could only look on as league leaders Liverpool defeated them 2-0 for the second time in three months.

Rodri’s Touch of Class Toward Liverpool Players

New footage has surfaced showing Rodri graciously congratulating several Liverpool players in the Etihad Stadium tunnel after the final whistle.

In the latest episode of Liverpool FC’s Inside series on their official YouTube channel, Man City midfielder Rodri is captured graciously acknowledging Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott, Andy Robertson, Alisson Becker, and others as they headed back to the away dressing room following their hard-earned victory.

A Classy Gesture from Rodri

Rodri’s sportsmanship stood in stark contrast to Jeremy Doku’s post-match frustration, as the Belgian insisted that Liverpool weren’t “much better” than City on the day. While the hosts dominated possession and registered more shots, they struggled to truly trouble their opponents.

It’s understandable that City players would find the defeat tough to take, given their intense rivalry with Liverpool over the past decade. However, true professionalism is often revealed in moments of adversity.

The Ballon d’Or winner showed humility by putting aside any personal disappointment to acknowledge his opponents’ deserved victory—something not every elite footballer would be willing to do so soon after the final whistle.

Manchester City will undoubtedly be a much stronger force next season with Rodri back in action. While he remains sidelined for a few more months, his impact extends beyond the pitch, as he demonstrated once again with his sportsmanship on Sunday.
