“Tottenham’s ‘Disgraceful Move’ Triggers Backlash as Pundit Ousted Over Daniel Levy Criticism”
“Tottenham’s ‘Shameless Act’ Sparks Fallout as Pundit Loses Job Over Daniel Levy Remarks”
Daniel Levy hasn’t reacted well to criticism at Tottenham Hotspur, and one pundit has exposed the lengths he’ll go to in order to quiet his detractors.
As chairman for the past 24 years, Levy has guided Spurs through both highs and lows, with significant progress off the pitch but just one trophy to show for it.
Levy is frequently lauded for his business expertise, having transformed Tottenham into one of the Premier League’s wealthiest clubs with a world-class stadium. However, their on-pitch progress has been anything but consistent.
Frustration over the club’s lack of silverware has sparked protests from large sections of the fanbase in recent weeks, with many supporters and pundits believing it’s time for a change.
Daniel Levy Hits Back at Darren Ambrose Following Tottenham Criticism
Levy maintains a firm grip on power in North London, overseeing everything from managerial appointments and player signings to, it seems, even sponsored events.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Inside Spurs show (21 February), former Crystal Palace midfielder and lifelong Spurs fan Darren Ambrose revealed that he was personally blocked from a sponsored role at Levy’s request.
Ambrose revealed, “I dared to criticize Daniel Levy once on talkSPORT—questioning his tenure at the club—and it ended up working against me.”
“I was set to take part in a sponsored event for Crystal Palace alongside a few former Palace and Spurs players, but I clearly picked the wrong moment to voice my frustrations.”
“The next day, I got a call from the Palace press team telling me that Spurs representatives had contacted them, saying that unless I was removed from the event, they wouldn’t be attending.
“I asked if it had anything to do with Daniel Levy, and they confirmed his name was mentioned. So, I dared to criticize him, he took offense—and that’s why I believe this recent criticism will really sting.”

Daniel Levy’s Increasing Defensiveness Is Becoming Unbearable at Tottenham
Any leader—especially one with the level of control Levy holds at Tottenham—should be open to criticism, using it as an opportunity for reflection and growth.
However, Levy appears so thin-skinned that even the measured opinions of a former professional can’t be tolerated, as shown by his move to block Darren Ambrose from a sponsored event.
When it comes to events featuring both Tottenham and Crystal Palace—especially ahead of matches between the two—few are better suited to represent both sides than Darren Ambrose.
A lifelong Spurs fan and a Palace legend, the 40-year-old would only enhance the profile of such events, likely boosting their credibility and even their financial success—something that should, in theory, benefit Levy.
Yet, with frustration growing among Tottenham fans eager to see their chairman step aside amid ongoing stagnation, Ambrose’s revelations suggest that dislodging Levy from power may be easier said than done.
