Ibou Konaté’s Post-Substitution Move vs. Wolves Will Surprise Liverpool Fans

Ibou Konaté’s Reaction After Being Subbed Off vs. Wolves Will Have Liverpool Fans Talking

Ibou Konaté was substituted at halftime against Wolves, but instead of staying on the bench, he was spotted elsewhere while his teammates continued the game.

Taken off to avoid the risk of a second yellow card, it was evident his exit wasn’t due to fitness concerns—something he later confirmed on social media.

Posting on his Instagram stories, Konaté was seen still in full match kit, lifting weights with a coach in what appeared to be Anfield’s inner facilities.

Rather than simply sitting on the bench after his early exit, it seems the Frenchman was put through a gym session—perhaps as a response to his disciplinary lapse.

The clock in his video showed around 3:15 pm, coinciding with the moment Diogo Jota won (and later had overturned) Liverpool’s second penalty of the match.

As Konaté left the pitch at halftime, his exchange with Matheus Cunha suggested he didn’t believe he was at risk of a red card.

However, Arne Slot seemed to think otherwise—or at least preferred not to gamble on losing his center-back for crucial upcoming clashes against Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle United.

With his own history of fitness setbacks, a second-half rest could actually boost his chances of staying fit for the weeks ahead.

While his recent refusal to rule out a move to Real Madrid may have unsettled some fans, for now, he remains fully involved in Liverpool’s title push.
