Liverpool suffer devastating injury setback as star forward sidelined for weeks

Liverpool face a significant blow as their star forward is ruled out for weeks due to injury.

Meanwhile, there’s some relief for the Reds, as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s thigh injury is reportedly less severe than first feared.

Ben Doak Suffers Setback but Expected Back Soon

Liverpool loanee Ben Doak has hit a minor roadblock in his impressive Championship season with Middlesbrough, picking up a thigh injury in training. The 19-year-old winger, who has tallied 10 goal involvements (three goals, seven assists) in 24 league appearances, is now set for a short spell on the sidelines.

Boro boss Michael Carrick reassured fans that Doak’s absence won’t be lengthy, telling BBC Radio Tees:

“He felt his thigh in training, and we’ll have to see. It’s probably a number of weeks, if anything, not days, but I don’t think it’ll be too long.”

Middlesbrough, currently just outside the playoff spots on goal difference, will be hoping to have him back soon as they push for promotion. Meanwhile, Doak is expected to return to Liverpool in the summer, with The Athletic reporting he is in contention for a first-team role under Arne Slot next season.

Liverpool Managing Injuries Carefully

Elsewhere, Liverpool have received a boost regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose thigh issue is not as serious as initially feared. While he is unlikely to feature in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham on Thursday, the club is taking a cautious approach, with his recovery expected to last only a few days rather than weeks.

With Conor Bradley ready to deputize and the squad in good shape, Liverpool remain optimistic about overturning their first-leg deficit and pushing for silverware.
