Liverpool Fans Furious: Julio Enciso Avoids Red Card in Scandalous Ipswich Showdown

Liverpool Fans Outraged: Julio Enciso Escapes Red Card in Controversial Ipswich Clash

Liverpool fans have voiced their opinions on Ipswich Town’s Julio Enciso following a reckless challenge on Reds midfielder Wataru Endo during Liverpool’s 4-1 triumph at Anfield.

In the 80th minute of the Premier League fixture, with Liverpool comfortably leading 4-0, the ball bounced toward the Japanese midfielder, who was poised to control it with his chest. As Endo prepared himself, Enciso leapt forward, extending his boot to intercept the ball. However, his momentum carried him into Endo, with his knee making contact with the midfielder’s face and neck area.

Despite sending his opponent sprawling, Enciso only received a yellow card for the challenge. However, the decision sparked criticism from Liverpool fans, especially in light of the controversial red card given to Myles Lewis-Skelly in Arsenal’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which was happening at the same time as Liverpool’s game against Ipswich.

Liverpool Fans React to Julio Enciso’s Challenge

Liverpool fans drew comparisons between Enciso’s challenge and that of Myles Lewis-Skelly, who had been shown a red card in a controversial decision during Arsenal’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As Liverpool cruised towards another three points in their bid to extend their lead at the top of the table, Wataru Endo became the victim of a challenge that left him flat on the ground.

Upon review, the tackle appeared reckless and potentially dangerous due to the nature of the contact. However, despite the severity of the challenge, the Paraguayan international—who had only just come on for his debut with Ipswich—was fortunate to escape with nothing more than a yellow card from the referee.

The decision didn’t sit well with Liverpool supporters, who took to social media platform X to voice their frustration over the failure to show a red card for the challenge.

One fan labeled Enciso as “lucky,” writing: “Enciso should be off. Flattens Endo but somehow escapes with a yellow. He’s lucky.” Another echoed this sentiment, posting: “How on earth is Enciso not off for that? He’s gone and kneed him right in the face!”

A third supporter expressed their outrage over the challenge, stating: “Double red card [in my opinion]. One for the foul and one for the fact that it was on Endo.” Meanwhile, a fourth fan took issue with Neil Warnock’s comments after the match, in which he tried to downplay the incident, suggesting it wasn’t a dangerous challenge since Enciso didn’t kick Endo in the chest. The fan responded: “Warnock justifying Enciso kneeing Endo in the face because at least he didn’t kick him in the chest? Good lord, get me away from these 15:00 streams.”

One supporter took aim at the Premier League’s officiating overall, drawing a comparison between Enciso’s challenge and that of Myles Lewis-Skelly, who was sent off for what was deemed ‘serious foul play’ while Wolves were attempting a counter-attack. The fan argued that Lewis-Skelly’s red card seemed harsh, yet it was upheld by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team, highlighting a sense of inconsistency in the decisions.

One supporter expressed frustration with the inconsistency in Premier League officiating, stating: “According to the official Premier League match centre account, Lewis-Skelly was sent off for ‘serious foul play’. Elsewhere, Enciso was only given a yellow card for this, by the way. Premier League officiating is an absolute farce right now. The inconsistency is ridiculous.”

While Liverpool cruised to a comfortable win, Enciso managed to stir further outrage among fans by providing the assist for Jacob Greaves’ consolation goal, preventing the Reds from securing a clean sheet.
