Robbie Fowler Delivers a Brutal Final Blow, Declaring Star Man Is ‘Not Cut Out for Liverpool’
Robbie Fowler Fires Back with a Scathing Parting Shot, Insisting Star Man Is ‘Not a Liverpool Player’
Robbie Fowler took another swipe after Liverpool’s FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley.
Robbie Fowler fired a harsh final remark at a Liverpool star after their dominant 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.
The victory at Anfield on Saturday saw Liverpool progress to the FA Cup fourth round, with Diogo Jota opening the scoring and Trent Alexander-Arnold adding a spectacular goal to double the lead.
Jayden Danns and Federico Chiesa completed the scoring with a third and fourth goal, both coming off the bench in the second half.
Despite Liverpool’s dominant victory, both fans and critics focused on Darwin Nunez’s performance upfront. While he assisted Jota for the opening goal, his overall display fell short of expectations.
Speaking before the match, Fowler told ITV: “We’re still saying the same things about him now as we were two or three years ago. He’s raw, he’s this, he’s that. You can’t keep repeating that. The more I watch him, the more I think he’s not a Liverpool player.
“People might criticize me for saying this because he works hard, but you don’t sign a player just for his work ethic. That should be a given.
“You need to come here and score goals. I know he’s a fan favorite for his effort, but at this point, you have to perform better and do more in that Liverpool shirt.”
When asked what Nunez was missing, Fowler responded: “I don’t think he’s quick enough in his decision-making, particularly when it comes to finishing.”
“He’s quick on the ground, we know how fast he is, but as a striker, your speed of thought has to be quicker than everyone else’s.”
After the game, Fowler assessed Danns’ goal and suggested that Nunez could take a lesson from the 18-year-old’s movement, delivering a pointed critique.
Commenting on the youngster’s goal, he said: “That’s what we love about him. His attitude is fantastic.”
For his goal, Danns first slid the ball to Chiesa before making a quick run into the box, something Fowler praised, suggesting that Nunez could learn from his teenage teammate’s movement.
Fowler added: “What I love about him is the way he immediately wanted to get back into the box. Nunez, on the other hand, will receive the ball, pass it, and then hang back.”
Nunez, 25, has netted only four goals in 25 appearances across all competitions this season and has been linked with a potential move away from Liverpool this month.
