“Roy Keane’s Savage Critique of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Potential Real Madrid Move”
“Roy Keane’s Scathing Take on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Rumored Real Madrid Switch”
During the half-time interval of the Manchester United vs. Liverpool match, former United midfielder Roy Keane joked that Trent Alexander-Arnold might be better off considering a move to League Two side Tranmere Rovers rather than joining Real Madrid, a club he has often been rumored to be linked with.
Alexander-Arnold, along with Van Dijk and key player Mohamed Salah, will see his contract at Liverpool expire this summer after rising through the club’s academy, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid now seen as the likely destination for his services.
The defender lined up alongside the returning Ibrahima Konate, captain Virgil van Dijk, and Andy Robertson as Arne Slot’s side aimed to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League with a victory on Sunday afternoon. However, Roy Keane, regarded as one of the greatest captains in Premier League history, was unimpressed with his first-half display.
With 62 Premier League assists, Alexander-Arnold holds the record for the most assists by any defender since the Premier League’s reformation in 1992.
During Sky Sports’ coverage of the highly anticipated clash between the two giants, Keane remarked that a move to Real Madrid is no longer a realistic option for Alexander-Arnold. Instead, he suggested the defender should consider dropping down the leagues and joining fourth-tier club Tranmere Rovers. He stated:
“We often praise Trent [Alexander-Arnold] for his attacking prowess, but his defending today, my goodness, it’s schoolboy stuff. We’re talking about him moving to Real Madrid, yet with the way he’s defending, he’ll be heading to Tranmere Rovers instead. He needs to improve.”
When asked to respond to Keane’s harsh criticism of Alexander-Arnold’s career ambitions following a sluggish first-half performance at Anfield, former striker turned pundit Daniel Sturridge was left speechless, burying his head in his hands before muttering, “No words, no words, no words.”

After failing to score in their last five away matches against Liverpool across all competitions, Lisbon-born Amorim’s Manchester United, who came into the match on the back of four straight defeats, were eager to correct their recent mistakes against their fiercest rivals.
Defender Lisandro Martinez put United ahead in the 52nd minute with a well-struck shot that ricocheted off the crossbar, before Cody Gakpo quickly responded for the hosts, leveling the score just seven minutes after going 1-0 down.
