“Slot Opens Up on Liverpool Star ‘Struggling’ as Key Duo Return to Strengthen Reds”
“Slot Reveals Liverpool Star ‘Struggling’ as Duo Deliver Major Boost for Reds”
Liverpool will face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and ahead of the match, Arne Slot has provided an update on the Reds’ injury list.
Liverpool have been exceptional throughout the first half of the 2024/25 season, with Slot’s side currently sitting atop both the Premier League and Champions League tables, as well as advancing to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
In contrast, Manchester United’s season has been a complete struggle. Sitting 14th in the league with just six wins from 19 matches, the Red Devils have lost their last four games, and manager Ruben Amorim has even spoken about the possibility of relegation this week.
A trip to Anfield is the last thing Amorim’s team needed, and the challenge has grown even greater as Liverpool looks set to welcome back two key players for the crucial match. However, Slot has also revealed that one player is currently “not in a good place.”
Liverpool Receive Significant Boost Ahead of Manchester United Clash
Ahead of the Manchester United match, Arne Slot confirmed in a press briefing on Friday that Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley would return to full training, indicating that both could be included in the squad for Sunday’s clash.
This news is a significant boost for the Dutch coach, with Konate having been pivotal to the team’s success in the first half of the season, while Bradley’s return provides crucial depth as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
Slot also confirmed that Joe Gomez will be sidelined for a few weeks due to the injury he sustained against West Ham, with the defender in a difficult situation regarding the issue.
“Not in a good place with his injury… out for a few weeks,” the former Feyenoord manager explained, as reported by James Pearce.
While Gomez’s absence will be a concern for Slot, the return of Konate helps alleviate some of the worry.
