Liverpool Under Siege: Real Madrid Targets Alexander-Arnold While Barcelona Eyes Luis Díaz

Liverpool’s resolve is being tested as two of their key stars attract serious interest from Spain’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid Eyeing Alexander-Arnold
England international Trent Alexander-Arnold has emerged as Real Madrid’s top transfer target following Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury. With his contract set to expire this summer, speculation about a free transfer to the 15-time European champions intensified after his celebration during Liverpool’s December 29 win over West Ham.

On December 31, The Times journalist Paul Joyce revealed that Real Madrid had submitted an official bid for a January move, offering £20 million to buy out the final six months of Alexander-Arnold’s contract. However, Liverpool rejected the proposal, showing little interest in negotiations.

While Alexander-Arnold’s future remains uncertain, another Liverpool star is also drawing interest from La Liga.

Luis Díaz on Barcelona’s Wishlist
Luis Díaz, in scintillating form with 12 goals this season, has become a top priority for Barcelona. The Blaugrana see the Colombian winger as the key to elevating their attack, with sporting director Deco reportedly a huge admirer.

Although Díaz is under contract until 2027, reports suggest his camp is frustrated over the lack of a contract upgrade, fueling speculation about a potential move. Barcelona, who approached Díaz last summer, are optimistic about revisiting negotiations despite competition from other targets like Rafael Leão, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nico Williams.

Liverpool, however, remain composed. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the club is focused on securing Díaz’s long-term future as part of their strategic plans.

With Real Madrid and Barcelona circling, Liverpool faces a critical battle to keep their prized assets amid intense interest from two of football’s biggest powerhouses.
