Liverpool are said to be targeting players who could significantly enhance the Premier League leaders, with negotiations already in progress for possible signings.
Liverpool are reportedly in talks to find a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold while also targeting Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
Alexander-Arnold’s future is in doubt with only eight months remaining on his contract. Despite more than 300 appearances for his boyhood club, he has yet to agree on new terms. Liverpool are eager to start negotiations, but reports from Spain suggest his representatives have also been in touch with Real Madrid.
Negotiations stalled last month when Liverpool refused to offer wages that would surpass those of top earners Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. In light of this uncertainty, Caught Offside reports that Liverpool have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential successor. Frimpong, valued at £41.5 million by Transfermarkt, is considered a strong candidate.
In addition to Frimpong, Liverpool are also monitoring Milos Kerkez, a 21-year-old Hungary international who joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar for £15.5 million last year. Under manager Andoni Iraola, Kerkez has impressed and is seen as a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson.
However, signing Kerkez could be challenging, with Manchester United also reportedly interested. TeamTalk suggests a move to Old Trafford is more likely due to his personal connections with the club.
If Liverpool miss out on Kerkez, they have other options in mind, including Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Kerkez expressed his ambition, saying, “I believe I can make it at the top level of football… then I can build an even bigger lake.”
