Virgil van Dijk hints that he’s not in a rush to settle his future at Liverpool.

“There’s no deadline at all,” Van Dijk said about his ongoing contract negotiations. “I’ll see what the future holds. Right now, my full focus is on Leicester [on Boxing Day].”

From January 1, Van Dijk, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, will be eligible to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs, paving the way for potential free transfers next summer.

Liverpool are actively working on extensions for all three players, with reports suggesting Van Dijk’s renewal is the most straightforward.

The Dutch defender also brushed aside any surprise at Liverpool’s impressive start under new manager Arne Slot.
