Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose current deal runs until June 2025, has been strongly linked to a potential free move to Real Madrid. The Spanish and European champions are reportedly eager to prioritize the England star as their key signing next summer.

At 26, Trent Alexander-Arnold could become a free agent at the end of the season, with the option to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs starting January 1. Speaking for the first time about the rumors linking him to Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold addressed the situation in an interview with Sky Sports.

“I’ve been at the club for 20 years now and signed four or five contract extensions… none of them have been played out in public,” the Liverpool right-back said. “This one won’t be either.”

Alexander-Arnold’s statement comes amidst contract uncertainty for other key Liverpool players, including Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whose deals are also nearing their end. Liverpool manager Arne Slot, however, appeared unfazed by these issues ahead of the team’s clash with Fulham.

“It doesn’t worry me. We just accept the situation as it is. They play for a very good club and are performing well,” Slot remarked. “Mo [Salah] is one of the reasons we score goals and keep clean sheets. We’ll need another strong performance to get a result against Fulham.”

While Alexander-Arnold remains reserved, Salah’s contract situation has been highly publicized. Last month, Salah voiced frustration over the lack of a contract offer, though reports now suggest he is close to agreeing to a two-year extension.

Van Dijk, in contrast, provided a more optimistic update in October, stating, “Discussions are ongoing, and we’ll see what happens. My full focus is on Liverpool and the games ahead. When a decision is made, everyone will know.”
