Why Salah Was Left Fuming with Two Liverpool Players in Extra-Time Against Fulham
Why Salah Was Furious with Two Liverpool Players During Extra-Time Against Fulham
Liverpool’s focus on securing an injury-time winner against Fulham on Saturday was unwavering. However, based on footage shared after the match, this intense drive may have cost them crucial points in their pursuit of the Premier League title for the first time since the 2019/20 season.
Liverpool will go into their Carabao Cup clash with Southampton still at the top of the league, holding a five-point lead over second-place Chelsea.
In more good news, Arsenal’s draw at home to Everton means that if Liverpool win their game in hand, they could extend their lead to nine points.
It’s not all bad!
However, Mo Salah was visibly frustrated with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Diogo Jota deserves some credit for his crucial equalizer against Fulham at the weekend. However, it’s easy to see why Mo Salah was seething during extra-time when both Jota and Luis Diaz failed to spot him unmarked in the box.
Footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @CF_Compss (courtesy of Premier League Productions) shows Salah visibly calling for the ball inside the six-yard box. It’s a frustrating moment to revisit, as the Egyptian was wide open when Diaz first received the ball. Then, Jota had another chance to deliver a game-winning assist, but despite the tight space, he blasted the ball over the bar instead.

He has every right to be unhappy like he is

Salah Hits 100-Assists Milestone with Liverpool
On a brighter note, the former Roma forward reached a significant milestone by providing the assist for Cody Gakpo’s first equalizer on Saturday.
With that assist, Salah now boasts 100 career assists for Liverpool. Since his debut in 2017, only Kevin De Bruyne, Lionel Messi, and Thomas Muller have recorded more assists across all competitions.
This achievement will surely be another talking point for Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, should the club encounter any hurdles in contract negotiations.
Mohamed Salah now has 100 assists for Liverpool in all competitions.
Since his debut for the club in August 2017, only three players have made more in Europe's Top Five Leagues (all comps):
