“Outrage as Issa Diop Dodges Red Card in Fiery Clash with Liverpool”
“Fans Stunned as Issa Diop Escapes Red Card Against Liverpool”
Issa Diop made a reckless tackle on Andy Robertson within the first minute of Fulham’s clash with Liverpool.
Liverpool fans were left in disbelief as Issa Diop escaped a red card for a shocking challenge just seconds into Fulham’s visit to Anfield.
In the 3pm kick-off, the Premier League leaders aimed for a quick start, but their momentum was halted when left-back Andy Robertson was left writhing on the ground following a dangerous tackle from Diop.
The ex-West Ham defender missed the ball entirely and caught Robertson on the knee with a reckless, high, and late studs-up challenge.
An offside in the build-up, flagged late, preceded the controversial tackle. Diop received only a yellow card for his reckless challenge, leaving Liverpool fans outraged as many felt he deserved a straight red.
One fan fumed: “How has Diop not been shown a red card for that?”
A second fan wrote: “How is Issa Diop still on the pitch? Clear red!”
A third commented: “What is it with these incompetent officials? Disgusting tackle by Diop—can’t believe it’s not a red.”
Another added: “That’s easily a red for Diop. Studs to the knee? Why hasn’t that been looked at?”
A final user argued: “Diop got away with it. If that foul happened after 10-15 minutes, it would’ve been a red.”
To make matters worse for Liverpool, Andreas Pereira fired Fulham into an early 1-0 lead shortly after a heavy challenge on Ryan Gravenberch. The situation escalated further when Andy Robertson was shown a straight red card for bringing down Harry Wilson.
A poor touch from Robertson allowed the former Liverpool academy player to break through, and after a VAR review confirmed Wilson was onside, Robertson was dismissed as the last defender. With Liverpool down to 10 men, Ryan Gravenberch dropped into defence as Arne Slot scrambled to adjust to Fulham’s numerical advantage.
Liverpool, unbeaten since a shock home defeat to Nottingham Forest on 14 September, now find their remarkable run under serious threat from Marco Silva’s Fulham.
Arne Slot’s side risk seeing their lead at the top of the table cut to just a single point if they suffer defeat and in-form Chelsea overcome Brentford on Sunday.
