Alejandro Garnacho sparks frenzy among Man Utd fans with cryptic two-word message to Cristiano Ronaldo on Instagram
The United winger has raised a question for the Al Nassr star on social media.
Alejandro Garnacho has dropped a cryptic two-word message to Cristiano Ronaldo on Instagram, leaving fans puzzled.
The 20-year-old winger had the chance to play alongside Ronaldo, 39, during the Portuguese icon’s second stint at Manchester United between 2021 and 2022.
Known for his admiration of Ronaldo, the Argentine international has never shied away from expressing his respect for the legendary forward.
However, his latest Instagram story has a rather mysterious tone.
On Tuesday afternoon, the winger shared a photo of Ronaldo on his social media with the caption: “What’s coming?”
While the reason behind the post remains unclear, it has already sparked a flurry of speculation among fans on social media.
Former United goalkeeper David de Gea also shared the same post on his Instagram story.
One fan commented, “Garnacho to Al Nassr,” while another speculated, “Something big is coming.”
A third fan remarked, “He’s going to Saudi to play with his hero,” while a fourth said, “Garnacho always keeps us guessing.”
Garnacho’s admiration for Ronaldo is well-known. He’s previously used Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Sui’ celebration and even wore ‘CR7’ branded underwear while playing for United.
United captain Bruno Fernandes even joked that Garnacho had been watching “too many Cristiano [Ronaldo] clips” after the Argentine scored a stunning Ronaldo-like overhead kick against Everton at Goodison Park in November 2023.
“We all know he’s a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo,” Fernandes said in November 2023. “There’s still a long way for him to be like Cristiano, but he’s taking the right steps.”
“He wants to be something special in the world of football, and I think he has the capability to do that, but he needs to do more than just that goal!” he added.
Of course, Garnacho has a long way to go and much to prove before he can be considered anywhere near the level of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
This season, the United youngster has struggled with consistency, scoring just three goals in 15 Premier League appearances.
Since Ruben Amorim took over as United’s new coach in November, the 20-year-old has often found himself on the bench, with Amorim preferring Amad and Diogo Dalot on the flanks of his 3-4-3 formation.
The wing-backs in Amorim’s system have equal attacking and defensive responsibilities, which could explain why Garnacho has been used sporadically.
