“Mo Salah Vigorously Backs Liverpool Teammate Amid Fan Criticism”
“Mo Salah Passionately Defends Liverpool Teammate Fans ‘Don’t Appreciate'”
Salah has stepped up to defend one of his teammates.
Mohamed Salah has passionately defended a Liverpool teammate who faced criticism on social media.
Liverpool’s scheduled Merseyside derby clash with Everton on Saturday was postponed due to safety concerns stemming from Storm Darragh.
While it was the only Premier League match postponed over the weekend, title rivals Chelsea and Arsenal both played on Saturday as they aimed to narrow the gap on the league leaders.
Arne Slot’s team entered the weekend’s fixtures with a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. This margin had narrowed from nine points following their thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle on Wednesday.
The Reds’ 3-3 draw marked the first time they had dropped points since October 27, but that didn’t stop fans from directing unexpected criticism at several players.
Among those targeted was Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah—whose own long-term future at Anfield remains uncertain—has stepped up to fiercely defend his teammate.
During a fan Q&A as part of a competition organized by Visa and El Mashrek, the Egyptian forward shared his thoughts: “I really enjoy playing with Nunez. A lot of people don’t appreciate him, but I like playing with him. I see Bahaa [in the video] keeps shaking his head… but no, I enjoy playing with him overall.
“He’s a player with unique skills. Not many people understand his style of play.”

Nunez has had limited playing time this season, with the 3-3 draw against Newcastle marking one of the rare occasions he was given a start.
Earlier this season, Arne Slot expressed his support for the Uruguayan forward, who netted 11 Premier League goals in 36 appearances last season, and defended his limited playing time due to intense competition for attacking spots.
In September, he stated: “There’s a lot of confidence in him. But there are two players for that position, and I could even name a few more who could play there.”
“He is in competition with Diogo [Jota, who is now injured], who has been performing really well. But there are plenty of games left, and there will be ample time to evaluate Darwin—whether he improves, how he improves, and if he can deliver special moments for the club.”
