“Body Language Expert Uncovers 20 ‘Red Flags’ in Pep Guardiola’s Behavior After Shocking Man City Draw”
Pep Guardiola was seen with self-inflicted scratches on his head as Manchester City’s woes deepened following their collapse against Feyenoord.
A body language expert has identified “20 red flags” in Pep Guardiola’s behavior following Manchester City’s dramatic collapse against Feyenoord on Tuesday night.
City appeared to be on track for their first win in six matches, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Ilkay Gundogan adding another to give them a 3-0 lead in their Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
However, the Premier League champions’ struggles persisted as they surrendered their three-goal advantage, with Feyenoord scoring three times in a remarkable 14-minute spell to secure a 3-3 draw.
Anis Hadj-Moussa pulled one back for Feyenoord, before Santiago Gimenez and David Hancko netted late goals to complete the stunning comeback.
Manchester City are now 15th in their Champions League group with three games remaining, including upcoming trips to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. The stunning collapse left Guardiola visibly frustrated, with the manager seen scratching his head and sporting cuts he had caused himself with his fingernail.
He also made a comment saying, “I want to hurt myself,” which prompted concern. Guardiola later clarified the remark on his official X account, explaining that his words were “in no way intended to make light of the very serious issue of self-harm.”
Although Guardiola is known for his animated demeanor, which has been key to his success, body language expert Darren Stanton observed concerning signs in his behavior. He claimed that Guardiola displayed a fake smile and used sarcasm as a deflection.
“Pep Guardiola’s press conference was even more revealing—it shows that he is clearly at the end of his patience. He was touching his head, shrugging his shoulders, and making hand-to-mouth gestures,” Stanton told OLBG.
“He flashes a fake smile and keeps talking about what his team already has rather than addressing what needs to change. It seems like he has no idea how to turn things around.
“Non-verbally, he’s signaling that there are no issues, which suggests he’s struggling to come up with a strategy to end this poor run of form.”
“When asked about his cuts, he responds sarcastically, using it as a deflection. The fact that he scratched himself shows deep anguish, and I believe it’s because he feels he’s doing everything right, but it’s just not working,” Stanton added.
Despite facing his toughest spell as Manchester City manager, Guardiola pledged his commitment to the club by signing a new two-year deal, extending his tenure to over a decade.
However, Stanton noted a range of emotions and gestures from Guardiola, describing him as “a broken man” and predicting that he won’t be at City for much longer.
He added, “Pep Guardiola is a broken man. There are around 20 red flags in his behavior. A mix of anger, frustration, and devastation is evident.
“These are understandable emotions for someone in his position, but he’s faced disappointment before and hasn’t shown such intensity as he did against Feyenoord.
“He buries his head in his hands, which is the complete opposite of a power stance, where you’d expect hands on hips and feet spread apart.
“He’s almost adopting a fetal position, trying to curl up as if he just wants the situation he’s in to end. He wants it to be over.”
“He’s going through purgatory, and I think these are the most extreme gestures we’ve seen from him. I genuinely believe he feels like he won’t be at Manchester City for much longer.
“He’s dejected, disappointed, and angry. When players are mentioned, he turns his face away, which suggests they’re in for a rollocking.”
It doesn’t get any easier for City as they head to Anfield to face league leaders Liverpool, with the prospect of being 11 points behind in the Premier League title race.
