“Pep Guardiola Opens Up About Facial Cuts After Troubling Post-Match Interview”

“Pep Guardiola Breaks Silence on Facial Cuts Following Alarming Post-Match Interview”

Pep Guardiola has addressed his remarks following Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Feyenoord on Tuesday night.

The 53-year-old manager appeared visibly frustrated as his team squandered a three-goal advantage in just 15 minutes, extending their disappointing form.

The draw left City in 15th place in the 36-team Champions League group stage, having already dropped points against Inter Milan and Sporting this season.

The Premier League champions have now gone six games without a win, suffering five losses during that stretch.

Following last night’s match, the Spanish manager was seen with visible scratches on his head and nose. In his post-match press conference, he clarified how he sustained the injuries.

“I cut it with my finger, my nail,” Guardiola explained.

He then added that he wanted to “hurt himself,” before laughing off the remark.

Guardiola has since turned to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his comments.

“I was caught off guard by a question at the end of last night’s press conference about a scratch on my face and explained that a sharp fingernail had accidentally caused it,” read a post on his official X account.

“My answer was in no way intended to make light of the very serious issue of self-harm.

“I know that many people struggle with mental health issues every day, and I would like to take this moment to highlight one of the ways people can seek help, by calling the Samaritans hotline at 116 123 or emailing jo@samaritans.org.”

Guardiola was clearly unhappy with his side’s lackluster performance but emphasized that his players were “desperate” to win against Sporting.

“They feel it, they are desperate to win, that’s why they play the way they do,” the City boss stated.

“They played really well in many aspects. We conceded so many chances but still gave away three goals. We made 26 shots against Spurs and lost 4-0.

“We’ve been a team that has conceded so few goals over the past eight or nine years. We’ve always been so stable and able to defend well, but now that’s not happening.

“The game was 3-0, and even more, I don’t remember much—maybe just one shot. We cannot close out games, and every time the opposition arrives, they score.”

The 53-year-old will undoubtedly be already preparing for his side’s upcoming trip to Anfield, where they will take on Premier League leaders Liverpool this Sunday afternoon.

City currently trail Arne Slot’s side by eight points and will be hoping to close the gap this weekend.
