Liverpool fans have voiced their opinions as Manchester City trailed 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool fans have voiced their reactions after Premier League rivals Manchester City found themselves 3-0 down to Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.

Following a two-week international break, the Premier League returned on Saturday with Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Arsenal all in action.

Arsenal bounced back to winning form with a 3-0 victory over an in-form Nottingham Forest, drawing attention to the Etihad Stadium as defending champions City faced Tottenham Hotspur.

In a stunning twist, Tottenham surged to a 3-0 lead, with two goals in the first half followed by a decisive third in the second, sending Liverpool fans into a frenzy on social media.

Reacting to the scoreline, one Liverpool fan commented: “Arne Slot is going to win the Premier League in his first attempt. You heard it here first.”

Another fan joked: “Arne Slot showed up, struck a pose, and Pep hasn’t been the same since.”

However, one fan cautioned others not to get too ahead of themselves, writing: “We still have to win our game tomorrow, regardless of the Manchester City result. Focus is key, lads. One game at a time.”

Liverpool’s next Premier League match takes them to St Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton on Sunday. If City fails to make a comeback, the Reds could go eight points clear at the top of the table.

Looking ahead, they’ll have a chance to extend their lead even further next weekend when they host Pep Guardiola’s City at Anfield for a thrilling top-of-the-table showdown.

Before their clash with City, Liverpool will first host La Liga giants Real Madrid in a Champions League fixture at Anfield.

Ahead of the back-to-back matches against Real and City, Arne Slot commented: “Last season, they [the players] were competitive throughout the whole season, as they have been in previous years.”

He continued, “So for them, it’s not the first time they face a week where they take on two teams that have dominated football in the last four or five years, both in the league and the Champions League.”
