Man City Fans Slam Key Player Following Nightmare First Half Against Tottenham Hotspur
Man City Fans Rip Into Key Player After Disastrous First Half Against Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester City is facing off against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Manchester City supporters have expressed their frustration with one player following a poor first-half performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
On Saturday evening, City hosted Spurs at the Etihad Stadium, hoping to reduce the gap to league leaders Liverpool, with Arne Slot’s side currently holding a five-point lead at the top.
The atmosphere within the City camp had been upbeat heading into the weekend after Pep Guardiola extended his contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.
However, the optimism quickly deflated as the reigning champions endured a disastrous first half.
A brace from James Maddison saw Ange Postecoglou’s side head into halftime with a commanding 2-0 lead.
On social media, City fans voiced their displeasure with defender Kyle Walker’s performance.
One fan wrote: “Kyle Walker is BEYOND finished.”
Another tweeted: “Kyle Walker for those two goals…”
A third fan chimed in: “If Pep Guardiola has to leave just so Kyle Walker stays glued to the bench forever, I’ll drive Pep to the airport myself.”
Another remarked: “A serious conversation needs to be had about Kyle Walker.”
A fifth fan added: “Kyle Walker needs to go. Out of position for both goals, constant bad touches. It’s not just this game either, it’s been months.”
One more fan questioned: “Kyle Walker getting beaten for pace… Sir, what do you do here?”
Speaking on Sky Sports, former Manchester United and England star Gary Neville said: “(Rico) Lewis and (Kyle) Walker are getting torn to shreds. They’ve been absolutely torn apart!
“James Maddison, that is absolutely sensational! The control with the right foot, the dink with the left—it’s a thing of beauty. What a brilliant goal.”
Meanwhile, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson commented on BBC Radio 5 Live: “This Man City back four is all over the place. They really struggle when Tottenham players run at them. Dominic Solanke is pulling the center-halves out of position, and the third-man runs from players like James Maddison and Heung-min Son are causing them real problems.”
